Can you purchase BLT Triple Anesthetic Gel over the counter?
I am having laser Hair Removal done and went on my first treatment. OMG!!!! You will not believe how painful this procedure is!!! I am a male and I am doing the face area. I was told by the nurse that males normally feel a lot more pain than females because our hair is much thicker due to constant shaving.
I was in soooooo much pain that the nurse was not able to do my goatee area. (I could believe how they let somebody undergo a treatment without an anesthetic to start with!!!).
Now I want to continue my sessions because my case is not purely cosmetic (This a whole new chapter)… but I must have a good anesthetic cream to help me undergo the treatment. I read only about LMX 5%, which would be my second option. I also read about BLT: Triple Anesthetic Gel (my first option), but I don’t know if it sold over the counter or not. Anybody knows? Any help?
Thanks!
LMX 5% is sold over the counter according to the site I checked. It is for” LMX5® cream temporarily relieves pain, itching and discomfort due to anorectal disorders.”
BLT: The following article reported that a triple-anesthetic gel containing benzocaine, lidocaine, and tetracaine (“BLT”) applied prior to treatment with a 532-nm KTP laser resulted in significantly lower pain scores than with 3 other topical anesthetics at 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes after application.
I couldn’t find the article, but BLT seems very effective according to this abstract.
I don’t know if it is OTC or not. I’d have had to sign in at a on line pharmacy to see the list.
